3D Graphics + Gaming: Character/ Avatar Animator

Puget Sound | Client Site | Long Term | Contract

Can you animate movement in a realistic and captivating way? Are you passionate about creating compelling gaming experiences?

FILTER is seeking an experienced Character/ Avatar Animator for a one-year contract opportunity in Redmond. We’re looking for someone who is technically-oriented, understands game play mechanics and has a keen eye for complex character motion and timing. You must have at least 2 years of game experience and at least one shipped AAA title to be considered for this position.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Concept and finalize spectacular hand-keyed in-game and cinematic animation for a variety of characters, both human and creature
• Implement character motion and script playback of character animations via an in-engine "state manager" to create fluid transitions while maintaining a crisp responsiveness in character control
• Responsible for the look and feel of all aspects of character motion and its impact on game play
• Participate in motion planning sessions where the animation, AI and design teams act out character behaviors
  

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

• 2+ years game experience and at least one shipped AAA title
• Exceptional understanding of bipedal motion, general human physicality and the intricacies of strong, appealing character acting
• Ability to create high quality hand keyed performances on human characters as well as other animals and props 
• A solid understanding of the character animation pipeline – both technical and creative
• Experience with motion capture data – including cleanup, dissecting and enhancing
